WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field team competed at the Mule Tune-Up, hosted by Colby College on Saturday, in preparation for next weekend's New England Regional Championships.
The meet was a non-scoring event featuring athletes from Colby College, Bowdoin College, Thomas College, Husson University, Vermont State Randolph, York County Community College, and Farmington.
Top Beaver Performances:
Senior Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine) delivered an eighth-place finish in the 200 meters, posting a strong time of 27.62 seconds. Todd also added a seventh-place finish in the high jump, clearing the 1.38-meter bar. First-year Heather Alexander (Orleans, Vt.) placed fifth in the high jump after clearing 1.43 meters.
First-year Alayna Marchessault (Thomaston, Maine) competed in the 800 meters and placed fifth overall with a time of 3:26.58.
Junior Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine) recorded a time of 3:13.32 in the 1,000 meters en route to a sixth-place finish in the highly competitive event.
Junior Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) earned sixth place in the 5,000 meters, finishing in 23:48.09.
First-year Jenney Lutz (Lebanon, N.H.) brought home eighth place in the triple jump with a top mark of 10.32 meters. Sophomore Emma Syphers (Bangor, Maine) also placed inside the top ten in the triple jump, finishing 10th with a jump of 10.06 meters.
First-year thrower Natalie Simpson (Bucksport, Maine) recorded sixth- and 12th-place finishes in the shot put and weight throw, respectively. Simpson's best shot put attempt measured 10.47 meters, and she reached 10.42 meters in the weight throw.
