Women’s Alpine Finish 2nd in Slalom at Sunday River

NEWRY, Maine - Sunday marked day two of the two day Reynolds Division race weekend at Sunday River. Today's event was slalom after giant slalom was held on Saturday. Similar to where they placed in giant slalom on Saturday, the University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine team took 2nd place while first-year Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) grabbed her second podium of the weekend.

After taking 1st place for the first time in her career, Robb grabbed her third straight podium finish to open up her collegiate career. Robb finished her two runs with a time of 1:14.03, posting a 38.34 second first run while finishing the second run in 35.69 seconds. 

Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) missed out on a podium by .35 seconds, finishing in 5th place overall. Caroselli stood 4th after her first run, posting a time of 38.71 seconds. She finished her second run with a time of 36.45 seconds for a two run time of 1:15.16.

Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Maine) was once again the 3rd Beaver to contribute to their team time. Mahmood placed in 13th overall with a two run time of 1:21.99 after her first run came in at 42.91 seconds and her second was clocked at 39.08 seconds. 

Robb, Caroselli, and Mahmood combined for a time of 3:51.18 and 14 place points in the 2nd place finish.

Paloma Shelton (Berkeley, Calif.), Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) and Tegan Andrew (Goffstown, N.H.) each finished both runs for the Beavers. Shelton posted a time of 1:24.87, Smith a time of 1:26.41, and Andrew a time of 1:30.30.

Parker Crawford of Colby College grabbed 1st place and the gold medal after finishing with a combined time of 1:12.17 over her two runs. 

Madelyn Zordan of Saint Joseph's also grabbed a podium, placing 3rd with a two run time of 1:14.81. Zordan and Saint Joe's grabbed 1st place as a team with their top-three skier combining for a total time of 3:46.68.

UP NEXT

The Beavers will compete next Friday and Saturday at Pleasant Mountain in Bridgton, Maine.
