Women’s Alpine Grabs 1st Place in Slalom at Pleasant Mountain

BRIDGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine walked away with a 1st place showing on Friday afternoon at Pleasant Mountain in the slalom portion of the two-day event. Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) took 1st place individually for the third time this season.

Robb posted a two-run time of 1:26.45 in her 1st place effort. Robb beat out Madelyn Zordan of St. Joseph's College by .32 seconds for the victory. Robb registered the fastest first run time, posting a 43.00 second run. Robb's 2nd run came in at 43.45 seconds, the second faster of any skier.

Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) missed out on a podium by .57 second, finishing in 4th place with a time of 1:27.75. Caroselli sat in 3rd place after her first run, posting a time of 43.55 seconds on the run. On her second run she finished with a time of 44.20 seconds, the fifth fastest run.

Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) had a pair of strong runs this afternoon for the Beavers. Mahmood's first run was clocked at 44.28 seconds and her second run came in a 43.74 seconds. Mahmood's second run was the third fastest of any skier. She finished with a two-run time of 1:28.02 to grab 5th place.

The trip of Robb, Caroselli, and Mahmood combined for a total time of 4:22.22, over three seconds quicker than St. Joe's.

Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) also finished in the top-ten, placing 10th overall. Smith's cumulative time was 1:34.34 in her 10th place effort.

Zordan finished in 2nd place to grab the silver medal while Courtney Pingree posted a time of 1:27.18 to grab the bronze medal.

The Beavers will compete in the giant slalom portion of the weekend tomorrow morning at Pleasant Mountain.
