Travis Magnusson '06 is the second inductee featured in our Hall of Fame Spotlight series. Among the numerous successful men's basketball players in UMF history, Magnusson stands out as one of the most accomplished and decorated.

A 1,000-point scorer, Magnusson currently ranks 8th overall on the all-time scoring list, having graduated with 1,400 career points. At the time of his graduation, he was ranked 5th on the program's all-time scoring list. Known for his exceptional ability to draw fouls, Magnusson frequently got to the free-throw line throughout his career, making 380 free throws—the highest number in Farmington's history.

While recognized for his scoring prowess, Magnusson was also a talented passer. Over his career, he recorded 609 assists and remains the program's all-time leader in this category. He is one of only two players in UMF history to have achieved over 500 assists, the other being Doug Sautter '93, who tallied 525 during his four-year career.

In addition to his offensive achievements, Magnusson was a tenacious defender, challenging opposing guards and recording 149 steals, ranking him 6th in program history.

A graduate of Georges Valley High School, Magnusson made an immediate impact during his freshman season at UMF, earning the Maine State Rookie of the Year title after averaging 15.84 points, 6.52 assists, 3.24 rebounds, and 1.68 steals per game. He was also named the Sunrise Conference Rookie of the Year for the 2002-03 season.

Magnusson's best scoring season came as a sophomore, when he totaled 411 points and averaged 15.22 points per game across 27 games. That same season, he maintained an impressive average of over four assists per game and was named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) 2nd Team All-Conference.

After averaging 10.52 points and 4.56 assists per game as a junior, Magnusson concluded his career with one of the best statistical seasons by a UMF player. In his senior year, he averaged 11.79 points and 7.82 assists per game, placing him in the top five in the nation for assists per game.

Throughout his career, Magnusson was recognized as a Maine State All-Star twice, earned a spot on the NAC All-Tournament Team in 2005, and was twice named MVP of the Hight Chevrolet Tip-Off Tournament. He also received multiple Player of the Week awards.

Currently, Magnusson is a physical education teacher at Maranacook Community High School, where he serves as both the varsity boys' basketball and girls' soccer coach.
