Adow’s Late Strike Guides Beavers to Win Over Husson

BANGOR, Maine - The reigning North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Week continued his hot streak, scoring a goal in the 84th minute, breaking a scoreless tie and sending the Beavers past Husson University on the road Friday evening.

The Records:

Following the victory, Farmington improved to 5-3-1 on the season with a 4-1-0 record in NAC play. The Eagles dropped to 5-3-1 with a 2-2-0 record in conference play after this evening's defeat.

How It Happened:

Husson came out of the gates quickly, producing one of the best scoring opportunities of the game in the opening minute. Florian Gasser hit the right post, and the ball was cleared to avert further danger.

The majority of Friday evening's game was a possession battle, with both teams jockeying for control in the middle of the field. Farmington seemed to be content sitting back to some extent, playing disciplined defense and aiming to counter quickly down the field.

One of the biggest hindrances to Farmington's scoring hopes was their inability to stay onside. The Beavers were whistled for offsides seven times in the first half, managing to produce only one shot.

Farmington was flagged for offsides four more times in the opening 20 minutes of the second half as they continued to search for the tie-breaking goal.
That tiebreaker came off the foot of Adow in the 84th minute after Victor Blanco was whistled for a foul at the top of the penalty area, setting up a free kick for Farmington. Adow's free kick opportunity was similar to those he had been given in two of the past three games, in which he had scored by bending his shot around the wall.

This attempt was slightly different, but the result was the same. Adow aimed to shoot over the wall for the upper left corner. However, his shot ricocheted off the head of one of the Eagle defenders in the wall, changing the trajectory and sending the ball into the right side of the net as Husson's goalie, Garret Jordan, was sliding left.

The Beavers held on in the closing minutes to secure the crucial conference victory.

Team Stats:

Husson held an advantage in shots (16-5), as well as slight advantages in shots on goal (4-3) and corner kicks (3-2).

The Goalkeepers:

Sophomore goalkeeper Jackson Leach (Farmingdale, Maine) continued his stellar season, making four saves and disrupting several Eagle crosses. Jordan made two saves in the loss for Husson.
