WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced the 2024 women's cross country postseason awards, naming senior Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) the Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Additionally, four Beavers earned All-Conference honors: Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine) and MacDonald on the First Team, and Eve Poteet (Fair Hill, Maryland) and Joy Evans on the Second Team.
A standout on both the cross country and track and field teams, MacDonald graduated in May 2024 with a degree in Special Education, completing her Bachelor's degree in just three years with a 3.859 GPA and Summa Cum Laude distinction. She was also part of the University of Maine at Farmington Honors Program and earned a minor in Coaching.
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Special Education through the university's 4+1 program, MacDonald is on track to complete both degrees in four years.
Beyond academics, MacDonald is actively involved on campus and in the community. She is a member of the Student Senate, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and Morgan's Message, a group dedicated to mental health awareness. She has volunteered as an official at high school track and field meets and participated in numerous community service events with her teams.
As an athlete, MacDonald has been a key contributor to the women's cross country team's success. Heading into the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship, she holds the fourth-fastest 6K time in program history (23:57.0) and the tenth-fastest 5K time (20:20.20).
NAC All-Conference honors are determined based on performance at the NAC Championship. Athletes placing 1st through 8th earn First Team honors, while those placing 9th through 15th earn Second Team honors.
At the 2024 NAC Championship, Martinez Nocito finished sixth (23:42.6) and MacDonald seventh (23:57.0), earning First Team honors. Poteet and Evans secured Second Team honors with 11th (24:20.1) and 13th (24:41.3) place finishes, respectively.
The five-woman team of Martinez Nocito, MacDonald, Poteet, Evans, and Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) finished second overall at the NAC Championship with a team score of 60 points and an average time of 24:49, setting a program record for the fastest 6K average.
