Women’s Cross Country Finishes 19th at NCAA East Regional

HOPKINGTON, N.H. - The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team finished their 2024 season on a high note, placing 19th overall in the NCAA East Regional Championship earlier today in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. The 19th place finish for the Beavers in their best at the Regional Championship in program history.

The meet consisted of 30 scoring teams, as well as a total of 224 runners from 41 institutions.

Beaver Runners:

The Beavers were paced by sophomore Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine). Martinez Nocito finished in 73rd place overall, finishing with a strong time of 24:28.58.

Senior Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) finished in 88th place overall, posting a time of 24:57.28 in what will be her final collegiate cross country meet.

Junior Eve Poteet (Fairhill, Maryland) placed just 12 seconds behind MacDonald, finishing in 99th place with a great 6k time of 25:09.51.

Senior Joy Evans (Farmington, Maine) also had a solid race for the Beavers, running a time of 25:54.03 to place 130th overall.

Sophomore Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) was the 5th Beaver to contribute to the team's overall score. MacDonald finished with a respectable time of 28:53.87, placing 183rd overall.

First-year Monica Lewis (Windham, Maine) also competed today for the Beavers, but did not contribute to the team's scoring. Lewis raced to a time of 33:19.48, finishing in 213th place.

Today's race marks the end of the 2024 season for the Beavers.
