DELHI, New York – The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team edged out SUNY Cobleskill to secure 2nd place overall at the 2024 North Atlantic Conference Championship, hosted by SUNY Delhi.
The Beavers amassed 60 points to finish in 2nd place, while SUNY Delhi claimed the NAC Championship with 36 points, and SUNY Cobleskill placed 3rd with 62 points. Amanda Intrieri of SUNY Delhi finished eight seconds ahead of Lilianna Peters from SUNY Cobleskill to win the individual championship.
Beaver Runners
Farmington placed four runners in the top 13, contributing to their impressive finish. The team raced to an average time of 24:49, setting a new program record for the fastest meet in history.
Leading the way for the Beavers was sophomore Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine), who finished 6th overall with a strong 6k time of 23:42.6. Martinez Nocito averaged a mile split of 6:21.5, earning her a spot on the North Atlantic Conference First Team All-Conference. This time marked her fastest 6k in her collegiate career and places her 3rd overall in program history.
Senior Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) closely followed, finishing just 15 seconds behind Martinez Nocito with a personal best time of 23:57.0. MacDonald placed 7th overall and averaged a mile time of 6:25.4, securing her spot on the NAC First Team All-Conference. This performance moved her to 4th overall in program history.
Junior Eve Poteet (Fair Hill, Maryland) also had a standout race, finishing 11th overall with a personal best time of 24:20.1, which ranks her 5th all-time in program history for a 6k. Poteet maintained an average mile time of 6:31.6 and was named to the NAC Second Team All-Conference.
Senior Joy Evans (Farmington, Maine) was the fourth Beaver to cross the finish line, placing 13th overall. Her time of 24:41.3, with an average mile time of 6:37.3, earned her a spot on the NAC Second Team All-Conference.
Sophomore Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) was the fifth and final Beaver to contribute to the team's overall placing, finishing 23rd with a time of 27:28.7 and an average mile split of 7:22.2. This was her fastest time of the season and the second fastest of her collegiate career.
Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine), Sara Moseley (Ellsworth, Maine), and Monica Lewis (Windham, Maine) also competed but did not factor into the team's scoring. Burr placed 31st overall with a time of 29:22.4, Moseley finished 36th in 30:11.4, and Lewis took 38th with a time of 30:39.9.
