Track and Field Highlights from Gordon Kelly Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's track and field team competed at the Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted by MIT today in Cambridge, Massachusetts. 

Today's meet consisted of a highly competitive field with athletes from MIT, UMass Dartmouth, Springfield, Franklin Pierce, Tufts, Hartford, Roger Williams, Brandeis, Gordon, and Coast Guard. 

Men's Highlights

Seamus Reeve (Kittery, Maine) placed 21st overall in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.44 seconds. Ben Vachon (Portland, Maine) finished just .18 seconds behind Reeve in 30th place with a time of 7.62 seconds.

Reeve added a 15th place finish in the 200 meters, posting a time of 24.33 seconds amongst the competitive field.

Connor Freeman (Bath, Maine) posted a personal record time of 2:07.45, placing 9th overall in the 800 meters. James Riley placed 16th in the event with a time of 2:15.13. Joe Burgess (Gray, Maine) also posted a personal record time of 2:16.53 in and placed 18th in the 800 meters.

Luke Bliss posted a highly respectable 6th place finish in the 1,000 meters. Bliss posted a time of 2:46.15 in his 6th place effort. First-year Andrew LaFlamme (Nashua, N.H.) finished just behind Bliss, posting a 9th place finish with a time of 2:49.48.

In the long jump, Vachon finished 7th overall after his fourth attempt was marked at 6.18 meters. Vachon added a 4th place finish in the triple jump, with his final jump being marked at 12.82 meters.

In the highly competitive field, Alixx Canwell (Chelsea, Maine) posted a 12th place finish with a throw marked at 13.10 meters. Canwell added a 4th place finish in the weight throw with a throw coming in at 16.56 meters. 

Women's Highlights

In the 60 meter dash, Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine) placed 19th with a time of 8.74 seconds, Hannah Millken (Greene, Maine) posted a personal record time of 9.26 seconds to place 28th overall, and Ilana Lybarger (Brussels, Belgium) placed 31st in 10.27 seconds.

Cara Perry (Stougton, Mass.) grabbed 20th place in the 200 meters with a time of 29.07 seconds. 

In the 600 meters, Joy Evans (Farmington, Maine) placed in 11th with a time of 1:48.27, just a second outside of the top-ten.

Three Beavers placed inside the top-13 of the 1,000 meters. Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) placed 10th overall with a time of 3:29.31, Eve Poteet (Fairhill, Maryland) finished just behind MacDonald in 11th with a time of 3:37.75, and Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) placed 13th with a time of 3:56.10.

Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) posted a personal record in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 9.64 seconds.

Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) set the program record in the high jump, clearing the 1.49 meter marker to bring home 8th place. 

Emily Hargreaves (New Gloucester, Maine) posted a 19th place in the weight throw after throw marked at 12.03 meters.

UP NEXT

The Beavers will compete next Saturday at Colby College.
