Robb Takes 2nd Place at Titcomb, Three Beavers Receive All-Division Honors

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine team wrapped up their regular season today with an combined alpine event consisting of one run of giant slalom and one run of slalom. With today's event signaling the end of the regular season, the Beavers had three skiers receive Reynolds Division All-Division honors. The team as a whole finished 2nd overall for the season.

First-year skier Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) wrapped up her season in style, picking up yet another podium, placing 2nd overall in the combined race. Robb finished the giant slalom run with a time of 30.86 seconds, just .02 seconds behind Madelyn Zordan of St. Joseph's College. Robb's slalom run came in at 38.33 seconds to post a combined time of 1:09.19. For the season, Robb was the Division's most consistent skier, finishing 1st overall for the season. Robb is the second Beaver to finish the season as the top skier in as many seasons. Lauren Kessen (Sussex, Wisc.) was the Division's top skier a year ago.

Kessen had a strong day for the Beavers in her second race back from injury. Kessen posted a a giant slalom time of 33.10 seconds and a slalom time of 40.44 seconds to post a combined time of 1:13.54. Kessen's time was good enough for 9th place.

Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) posted a pair of solid runs as the Beavers third scoring skier. Smith posted a giant slalom time of 33.52 seconds with a slalom time of 42.26 seconds for a two-run time of 1:15.78. Smith placed 14th overall.

Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) sat in 8th place after the giant slalom run, posting a time of 32.34 seconds. But in her slalom run, she lost an edge going around one of the gates, forcing her to slow down, posting a time of 43.59 seconds. Mahmood placed 15th overall with a time of 1:15.93. For the season, Mahmood finished in 6th place in the Reynolds Division to receive All-Division honors. 

Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine), who has been one of the Beavers most consistent skiers as well as one the top athletes in the Division, posted a giant slalom run time of 32.59 seconds and sat in 10th place. Caroselli missed a gate in the slalom run, forcing her to take a DNF. For the season, Caroselli finished as the Reynolds Division's 3rd highest scorer to receive All-Division honors. 

With today's race being the final Reynolds Division race of the season, the coveted Ricker Cup was awarded to the top combined men's and women's alpine team for the season. After winning the Ricker Cup a season ago, the Beavers placed 2nd overall in the Division this season and the Ricker Cup is headed home with St. Joe's.

Madelyn Zordan of St. Joe's won the gold medal at today's race after posting the fastest time in both the giant slalom run and the slalom run. Zordan posted a time of 1:08.36 for the day to capture the gold medal. Courtney Pingree, also of St. Joe's, capture the bronze medal with a combined time of 1:10.56.

The Beavers head into next weekend's Eastern Regionals seeded 1st overall in the Reynolds Division. Eastern Regionals kick-off on Saturday at Sugarloaf with a slalom event. The giant slalom race will be held Sunday at Sugarloaf with a chance to qualify for Nationals on the line.
