CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine team placed 9th overall in today's giant slalom event at the Regional Championship at Sugarloaf. The Beavers will be looking to rebound in slalom tomorrow with a chance to qualify for the National Championship on the line.
Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) had a fantastic day on the course, placing 10th overall and posting a time of 1:54.24 over her two runs. Robb sat in 6th place after her first run, posting a time of 56.63. Robb's second run came in at 57.61 seconds, the 18th fastest run on the course.
Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) was the second Beaver to contribute to the team's cumulative time. Caroselli posted a two-run time of 2:01.90 to claim 32nd place individually. Her first run was clocked at 1:01.27, while she finished her second run with a time of 1:00.63.
Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) was the third scoring Beaver. Mahmood posted a first run time of 1:04.46 and a second run time of 1:04.60, finishing her two runs with a combined time of 2:09.06. Mahmood placed 44th individually.
The trio of Robb, Caroselli, and Mahmood combined for a time of 6:05.20. Castleton sits in 1st place, with Babson in 2nd, UMass Amherst in 3rd, Northeastern in 4th, and Clarkson rounding out the top five in 5th place.
Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) finished behind Mahmood in 49th place but did not contribute to the team's score. Smith posted a two-run time of 2:10.26 with a first run time of 1:03.23 and a second run time of 1:07.03.
Lauren Kessen (Sussex, Wisc.) had a great first run, sitting in 15th place with a time of 58.63. However, Kessen recorded a DNF in her second run and would not score.

The Beavers return to Sugarloaf tomorrow for the slalom portion of the Regional Championship. The top six women's teams will qualify for the National Championship.
