Caroselli Takes 1st in Slalom, Leads Beavers to 1st Place as a Team

HENNIKER, N.H. - Sophomore Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) grabbed her first gold medal of the season helping the Beavers claim 1st place in today's slalom event at Pats Peak.

Caroselli had a huge day on the course. In her first run she posted a time of 34.59 seconds, the fastest run of any skier. She followed up that run with a 41.56 second run to post a two-run time of 1:16.15. Caroselli's 41.56 second run was the second fastest run of any skier.

Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) continued her spectacular freshmen campaign, grabbing yet another medal. Today, she placed 2nd overall, just behind Caroselli to grab the silver medal. Robb posted a two-run time of 1:16.23, just .08 seconds behind Caroselli. Robb posted a first run time of 34.82 seconds and a second run time of 41.41 seconds. Caroselli and Robb finished almost four seconds ahead of any other skier.

Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) placed 4th overall, just outside of the top-three. Mahmood posted a two-run time of 1:22.29 after her first run was clocked at 37.68 seconds and a second run time of 44.61 seconds.

Caroselli, Robb, and Mahmood posted a cumulative time of 3:54.67, 15 seconds ahead of Saint Joseph's College who finished in second place.

Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) also posted a top-ten finish for the Beavers today. Smith posted a two-run time of 1:27.47 to place 9th overall but did not contribute to the team's scoring time.

The Beavers will compete in the giant slalom portion of the competition tomorrow morning at Mittersill Alpine Resort.
