Robb and Mahmood Podium, Lead Beavers to 1st Place at Mittersill

FRANCONIA, N.H. - First-year Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) placed 1st overall and junior Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) claimed 3rd to lead the Beavers to a 1st place finish in today's giant slalom event at Mittersill Alpine Resort.

Robb destroyed the field on Sunday, finishing in 1st place by over three seconds faster than Courtney Pingree of St. Joseph's who placed 2nd overall. Robb finished her first run with a time of 43.91 seconds. Her second run was the run that really distanced herself from the field. Robb finished her second run in 44.83 seconds, 2.4 seconds quicker than any other skier. Robb posted a two-run time of 1:28.74 to grab the gold medal.

Mahmood had a pair of quality runs for the Beavers. Mahmood finished her first run in 45.17 seconds and sat in 3rd place. She finished her second run in a time of 48.03 seconds to post a two-run time of 1:33.20 and hold on to 3rd place.

Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine), a day after grabbing the gold medal in slalom, finished 4th overall, just narrowly missing out on another podium. Caroselli finished with a two-run time of 1:33.50, just .3 seconds behind Mahmood. Caroselli finished her first run in 45.76 seconds and her second in 47.74 seconds.

Robb, Mahmood, and Caroselli posted a cumulative time of 4:35.44 to place 1st overall. The Monks finished with a three-skier time of 4:40.56 to grab 2nd place.

The Beavers will compete in a slalom event next Saturday morning at Lost Valley.
