Women’s Alpine Falls in Quarterfinals of Dual Slalom

LAKE PLACID, New York - The University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine team closed out their week at the USCSA National Championships with a loss in the dual slalom at the hands of Rocky Mountain College.

Dual slalom is a different race that the Beavers do not compete in during the regular season. Dual slalom is an event with two teams going head to head down the hill with five skiers from each team going head to head with five skiers from the opponent. The team that has to most skiers win their individual race, advance on to the next round in a bracket format.

The Beavers group of five skiers included Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.), Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine), Lauren Kessen (Sussex, Wisc.), Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.), and Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.).

Robb, Caroselli, Kessen, Mahmood, and Smith had no issues taking down the University of California Davis in the first round matchup to advance into the quarterfinals.

The Beavers were unable to get past eventual gold medalist Rocky Mountain College in the quarterfinals.

The Beavers finished off their season by placing 11th overall at the USCSA National Championship.
