LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - The University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine team persevered through treacherous course conditions on day one of the USCSA National Championships to secure a 10th overall finish in giant slalom.

With warm temperatures and low snow levels posing challenges for all competitors, the Beavers displayed strength and resilience to achieve a 10th place finish in the first race, marking a historic moment for the women's alpine team at the National Championship in program history.

Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) and Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) each recorded DNFs after falling on their opening run, creating pressure for the remaining three Beaver skiers, as three skiers are required to finish both runs for a complete team score.

Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) led the Beavers on the hill, securing 24th place overall. Despite skidding around a couple of gates on her first run, Robb maintained her footing, finishing with a time of 1:15.33, ranking as the 21st fastest run of any skier in their first run. Robb continued with another effective run on her second attempt, posting a time of 1:14.87 to finish with a combined time of 2:30.20.

Lauren Kessen (Sussex, Wisc.) posted a pair of remarkably similar runs to claim 44th place overall. Kessen completed her first run in 1:24.49 and her second run in 1:25.21, resulting in a combined time of 2:49.70.

Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) finished just two places behind Kessen in 46th place with a two-run time of 2:52.41. Mahmood completed her first run in 1:26.07 and her second run in 1:26.34.

Robb, Kessen, and Mahmood combined for a team time of 8:12.31 seconds. Rocky Mountain College secured 1st place in giant slalom as a team, finishing with a team time 21 seconds faster than the 2nd place Northern Michigan University.
