LAKE PLACID, New York - The University of Maine at Farmington freeski team topped the field once again, claiming their second National Championship in as many days with the slopestyle title on Thursday.

The Beavers had four skiers place inside the top-six to walk away with the championship. Maxwell Hamilton (Brunswick), Carson Theriault (Fort Kent), Arden Weaver, and rail jam national champion Zach Chaisson (Scarborough) claimed the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th positions, respectively.

Hamilton tied for the second-best qualifying run, scoring 73.67 points to enter the finals near the top of the loaded field. His best finals run scored 69.33, securing the bronze medal.

Theriault, similar to Hamilton, stood out well in the qualifying run, registering a 71.67 point run, good for the 5th-best qualifying run among the field. In the finals runs, as the course was deteriorating, Theriault's best run scored 66.67, placing 4th.

Weaver scored an identical score to Theriault in the finals, registering a run of 66.67. Weaver finished 5th behind Theriault, however, due to his tiebreakers score being 67 compared to Theriault's 69.

Chaisson was amongst the middle of the pack after the qualifying runs as his best qualifying run scored 54. But Chaisson stepped up big time in the finals. His best run in the finals scored 64.67, earning 6th place.

Dominique Richard (Lewiston) placed 21st overall but did not qualify for the finals with the top 15 qualifying runs advancing to the finals. Richard scored 42.67 in the qualifiers.

As a team, the Beavers left no doubt, blowing out the rest of the field with 12 place points. Liberty University placed 2nd as a team with 28 place points.
