- The Field Hockey team was one of 61 Division III programs in the country to earn the National Field Hockey Coaches Association 2023 National Academic Team award.
- 11 field hockey athletes; Winter Adams, Allie Bliss, Hailey Capano, Bayley Casavant, Ella Grant, Abby Hanson, Elizabeth Kendall, Tiana McDougall, Gabby Vincentsen, Emma Willey, and Anna Zimmerman were named to the Nation Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad. Capano, McDougall, and Zimmerman were featured as Scholars of Distinction.
Athletic Highlights and Milestones
- The Men's Cross Country Team was crowned the North Atlantic Conference Champion for the first time since 2003. The Beavers top-five finishers finished with a total time of 2:20.16 and an average time of 28:03.
- Audrey Fletcher scored four goals against the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Sept. 26th leading the Beavers to an 8-0 victory. The four-goal performance from Fletcher was the first by a Beavers since McKenna Brodeur in 2017.
- Men's Soccer seniors Aric Belanger, Christian Beliveau, William Dowse, and Trevor Krueger were selected to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League Senior All-Star Game.
- Individually, track and field athletes Erica Johnson, Justin Castaldo, Alixx Canwell and Ben Vachon qualified for the NCAA East Region Indoor Track and Field Championship.
- For the second consecutive season, all active University of Maine at Farmington Snowsports teams (Men's Alpine, Women's Alpine, Women's Nordic, and Men's Snowboard/Freeride) qualified for the USCSA National Championships.Â
- While at the USCSA National Championships, the Snowsports program reached new heights, garnering 26 All-American awards and 12 Academic All-American honors (referenced above).
- On March 5th, 2024, Caelan Billings was crowned the USCSA Boardercross National Champion. Billings became the 3rd National Champion in Farmington program history
- On March 7th, 2024, Zach Chaisson topped the field in the Freeski Rail Jam at the USCSA National Championship to be crowned the National Champion.
- Men's Basketball senior Zach Mickle scored a career-high 37 points on Senior Day to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau. Mickle became the 33rd member of UMF's 1,000-point club.
- Baseball senior Ryan Sargent crossed the 100-hit milestone with a double against Lakeland University on March 14th. Against Bates on April 9th, Sargent recorded his 28th career double, breaking the program's all-time double record. Sargent will return for a 5th season next year, just two hits shy of Hunter LaBossiere's '23 all-time hits record.
- The 2024 UMF Softball team completed their best season in recent program memory. Finishing with a 19-11 record, the team registered their first appearance in the playoff since 2018 and recorded their first postseason victory since 2011.
- The Men's and Women's Track and field teams had seven athletes receive Conference Champion honors. Ben Vachon (high jump), Connor Freeman (3,000 meter steeplechase), Alixx Canwell (shot put, hammer throw), Charlie Thompson (decathlon), Carrie Burr (400 meter hurdles), Joy Evans (10,000 meters).
- Alixx Canwell, Erica Johnson, Ben Vachon, Luke Bliss, Justin Castaldo, Connor Freeman, and Alex Crews all individually qualified for the NCAA New England Regional Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
- Carrie Burr received United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honors, ranking inside the top five of the New England region in the Heptathlon.
- Alixx Canwell was named to the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region team for second consecutive year in the hammer throw after placing inside the top-five for the event in the New England region.
- Jaycie Stevens was named a North Atlantic Conference Woman of the Year finalist.
- Aric Belanger was a finalist for the North Atlantic Conference Man of the Year award.
