Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Beavers Battle Nor’Easters to Non-Conference Tie

BIDDEFORD, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team went on the road and battled the University of New England to a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon.

The Records:

The Beavers entered play having only played in one game so far this season, dropping their season opener at home to Nichols, 1-0. Following today's contest the Nor'Easter sit a 1-3-2.

How it Happened:

The Nor'Easter opened play with consecutive corner kicks in the first two minutes of the game. Corbin Schreindorfer registered the game's first shot, sailing one wide to the left off the second UNE corner kick.

The Beavers had a beautiful opportunity to get on the scoreboard for the first time in their 2024 season in the 9th minute. A rocket off the foot of Mohamed Adow (Auburn, Maine) rung the crossbar and kicked away to keep the game knotted at zero.

Adow had another great opportunity to score in the 27th minute. His initial shot was saved by Ollie Hammond but Hammond did not control the rebound as it found its way back to Adow. Adow's second shot attempt was cleared off the line and kept out by UNE defenders, keeping the game scoreless.

Farmington didn't have many opportunities in the 2nd half as the Nor'Easters out shot the Beavers 7-1 in the second 45 minutes. Sophomore goalkeeper Jackson Leach (Farmingdale, Maine) stood tall, turning away each Nor'Easter opportunity.

Team Stats:

UNE held a 16-8 margin in shots but shots on goal were all tied up at four apiece. UNE also held a slight advantage in corner kicks (4-3).

The Goalkeepers:

Leach finished with four saves to pick up his first shutout of the season. Hammond tallied three saves to earn the shutout as well.

UP NEXT

The Beavers will look to get on track with a non-conference battle on Saturday afternoon at home against North Atlantic Conference opponent, VTSU Johnson. Kick-off is slated for 12:00 PM.
