Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Beavers Score Five, Roll to First Win

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team came into play struggling offensively not having scored a goal in their first 180 minutes of play this season. They broke out of their scoring slump in a big way, scoring five goals in a rout of VTSU Johnson on Sunday afternoon at Leib Field.

The Records:

Farmington entered play having played just two games, suffering a loss at home against Nichols and then tying a solid UNE team on Saturday. Following the loss for Johnson, their record sits at 1-2.

How it Happened:

Mohamed Adow (Auburn, Maine), a First Team All-Conference player as a first-year last season, sored for a header off a high lifting corner kick from Zach Chaisson (Scarborough, Maine) to get Farmington on the scoreboard for the first time just 12 and a half minutes in.

16 minutes after the opening tally, first-year forward Jack Luciano (Gorham, Maine) was taken down in the box, setting up a penalty kick opportunity. Luciano pocketed the penalty kick into the lower left side netting to double the Beavers' lead.

The offensive onslaught for Farmington continued just a minute and a half later as a pair of first-years hooked up to make it a 3-0 game. Jackson Landry (Gorham, Maine) found JJ Greenlaw (Farmington, Maine) who ripped a right-footed shot through traffic into the back of the net.

Luciano scored his second goal in the 41st minute, this time an unassisted marker, to help the Beavers take a 4-0 lead into the halftime intermission.

The Beavers were kept off the scoreboard for the opening 30 minutes of the half but Landry scored his first collegiate goal, inching one across the line off a feed from Will Sampson (Auburn, Maine) to make it a 5-0 game.

Team Stats:

The Beavers controlled play in a big way, holding commanding edges in shots (24-4), shots on goal (11-1) and corner kicks (9-3).

The Goalkeepers:

Farmington split time amongst all four of their goalies. Jackson Leach (Farmingdale, Maine), Parker Day (Brentwood, N.H.), Hunter Frost (Monmouth, Maine), and Dylan Gagnon (Hudson, N.H.) combined on the shutout. Day made the lone save for the Beavers. Carlos Dominguez made six saves in the loss for Johnson.

UP NEXT

The Beavers will travel to Thomas on Wednesday afternoon to open up North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. Kick-off is slated for 4:30 PM.
