Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Adow Leads Beavers to Victory at UMPI

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine - Sophomore forward Mohamed Adow (Auburn, Maine) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to help push the Beavers to a 4-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory on the road over the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

The Records:

The Beavers picked up their second straight win and improved to 3-2-1 on the season with a 2-1 record in NAC play. The Owls fell to 2-4 on the season and 0-3 against conference opponents.

How it Happened:

The Beavers got on the scoreboard early when senior William Dowse (Sherborn, Mass.) headed in a corner kick off the foot of Caleb Kolman (Bixby, Okla.) in the 10th minute. Kolman whipped an in-swinging ball into the box and Dowse flicked into the back of the net for the early 1-0 lead.

The game stayed scoreless until the closing seconds of the 1st half when Adow scored his first of two goals. Shukri Hassan (Lewiston, Maine) sent a cross into the box from the right corner that Adow went up, out-leaping an Owl defender and heading the ball into the back of the net to make it a 2-0 game heading into halftime.

Farmington kept the offense rolling to open up the 2nd half. Adow received a long pass over the top of the Owls' backline from Hassan in the left corner. Adow carried the ball into the box and then left a drop off pass to Hasson who one-timed a shot into the bottom left corner to extend the lead to 3-0 in the 50th minute.

Adow found the back of the net for the 2nd time in the 71st minute, bending a right-footed free kick around the UMPI four-man wall and past the diving Samuel Paladino to make it 4-0.

Team Stats:

Despite the lopsided score on the board, the game was mostly even. The Beavers held advantages in shots (11-7) and shots on goal (7-3) while the Owls had three corner kicks to the Beavers one.

The Goalkeepers:

Sophomore goalkeeper Jackson Leach (Farmingdale, Maine) played the first 77 minutes of the game and made one save. Parker Day (Brentwood, N.H.) took over for Leach in the final 13 minutes of the game and registered one save to preserve the Beavers' 2nd straight shutout. Paladino made four saves in the loss for UMPI.
