Men’s Track and Field Performs Well at Colby Mini Meet

WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's track and field team traveled to Colby College this evening to compete in the Colby Mini Meet. The Beavers performed well for themselves in the three team meet against Colby College and Thomas College in a meet that consisted of just select events.

The events at Wednesday's meet included the 60 meter dash, 200 meters, 1,000 meters, 3,000 meters, long jump, and the weight throw.

In the 60 meter dash, the Beavers dominated the field, sweeping the top-three places. Nate Trussell (Berwick, Maine), Logan Burns (Islesboro, Maine), and Seamus Reeve (Kittery, Maine) finished first thru third respectively. Trussell finished with a time of 7.30 seconds, Burns in 7.47 seconds, and Reeve in 7.51 seconds.

Farmington had three finishers place inside the top-five in the 1,000 meters. Alexander Gagnon (Goffstown, N.H.) placed second with a time of 2:51.78, Joe Burgess (Gray, Maine) placed 4th in 2:57.76, and Samuel Perkins (Jay, Maine) was fifth after finishing in 2:58.17.

In the weight throw, Alex Crews (Winslow, Maine) led the way for Farmington. Crews placed second overall with his best attempt measured at 11.97 meters. David Romero (Naugatuck, Conn.) placed seventh overall in the weight throw with his furthest throw measured at 8.61 meters.

Farmington did not have anyone compete in the 200 meters, 3,000 meters, or the long jump.

The Beavers will head to Boston on Friday for the men's portion of the Harvard Invitational.
