LEWISTON, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington thrower Alex Crews (Winslow, Maine) placed in the top five of three events, automatically qualifying for the New England Championships in one, and led the men's track and field team to an eighth-place finish at the Pine Tree State Championships. In total, the Beavers amassed 32 points in their eighth-place effort.
Top Beaver Performances:
Crews took home second place in the shot put, third place in the discus, and fourth in the hammer throw. Individually, Crews scored 19 of the team's 32 points across the two-day event. Crews automatically qualified for the New England Championships in the shot put, reaching 14.63 meters on his best attempt en route to a second-place finish. In the discus, Crews placed third after his best throw was measured at 40.13 meters—just two and a half feet shy of second place. Crews reached 44.50 meters on his best hammer throw attempt, placing fourth overall in the event.
Sophomore Logan Burns (Lisbon, Maine) delivered a standout performance and provisionally qualified for the New England Championships in the long jump after reaching 6.65 meters on his furthest attempt. Burns placed third overall and earned six points with the finish.
First-year Lucas Witkowski (Cromwell, Conn.) delivered a strong time in the 400 meters, placing fourth overall with a time of 51.01 seconds, securing five points for the team. The time provisionally qualified Witkowski for the New England Championships.
Junior Andrew LaFlamme (Nashua, N.H.) continued his strong season with a seventh-place finish in the 1,500 meters. LaFlamme posted a time of 4:06.20 en route to securing two points in the event.
Junior Ethan Linscott (Lakeville, Maine) finished 10th overall, narrowly missing a scoring position in the 800 meters. Linscott completed the race in 2:01.18, less than a second and a half outside of a spot in the top eight.
In the 5,000 meters, senior James Riley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) placed ninth with a strong time of 16:40.13.
First-year Chase Nixon (Milton, Mass.) finished inside the top ten, earning ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.21.
UP NEXT
The Beavers will host the 2026 North Atlantic Conference Championships next weekend at the University of Maine. The two-day event is set to kick off on Saturday.
