Farmington Overwhelms Fisher in Season Opener

CASTLETON, Vt. – The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team opened their 2025-26 campaign with a dominant 111-20 wire-to-wire victory over Fisher College on Saturday evening at the Spartan Classic hosted by VTSU Castleton.

How it Happened:

The Beavers used suffocating defensive pressure from the opening tip, overwhelming Fisher and putting the game out of reach early. Farmington forced 17 turnovers in the first quarter alone and scored the first 30 points of the contest, building a massive lead in just eight minutes of play.

Sophomore guard and reigning North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Year Jaydn Pingree (Jay, Maine) led the Beavers in the opening quarter, scoring 11 points and collecting five steals.

Tyler Wilkinson finally broke the Falcons' scoreless spell with a mid-range jumper in the final minute of the quarter.

Farmington's defensive dominance continued into the second frame as the Beavers forced ten more steals and extended their lead to 54-16 at halftime.

The third quarter was all Farmington. The Beavers outscored Fisher 35-0 in the period, taking an 89-16 lead into the final ten minutes.

Farmington cruised through the fourth quarter to close out the emphatic season-opening win. The Beavers received contributions across the roster, with all but two players scoring at least four points. Every player logged at least ten minutes, and no one played more than 20.

Pingree led the way on both ends, finishing with 20 points and eight steals in just 11 minutes. First-year forward Lilly Gray (Benton, Maine) impressed in her collegiate debut, recording 14 points and ten rebounds off the bench. Junior transfer Halle Tripp (Searsmont, Maine), making her Farmington debut, added 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting and knocked down a pair of threes.

Kenuelys Vazquez paced Fisher with 13 points but was limited to 21 minutes before fouling out in the third quarter.
