WATERVILLE, Maine — University of Maine at Farmington junior forward Jason Reynolds (Winslow, Maine) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Reynolds had a massive week on both ends of the floor for the Beavers, helping Farmington to a 2-1 record with a pair of NAC victories over SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Delhi on Friday and Saturday.
A prolific rebounder with a natural instinct for the basketball, Reynolds posted double-digit rebounds in all three games last week and has reached 10 or more rebounds in five of the team's six games this season.
Reynolds opened the week with a nine-point, 11-rebound performance against Bowdoin College on Wednesday evening, in a game where Farmington trailed by as many as 28 before mounting a huge run to cut the deficit to two possessions. The Beavers ultimately fell, 83-74.
On Friday against Cobleskill, Reynolds recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds while adding two steals. He shot 4-for-9 from the field in Farmington's 92-75 win.
The next day, Reynolds capped the week with a monster 23-point, 18-rebound performance in a 95–66 win over Delhi. He also added three steals. His 18 rebounds set a new career high, surpassing his previous mark of 14 set on January 19 of his freshman season.
Through six games, Reynolds leads the conference in rebounding, averaging 11.5 boards per game. He also has four double-doubles—more than any other athlete in the NAC.
