WATERVILLE, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington junior guard/forward Jessica Dow (Saco, Maine) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Beavers to a 2–1 week with a pair of impressive conference victories.
Dow did it all on both ends of the floor last week for the Beavers. In Wednesday's setback on the road against the University of Southern Maine, Dow shot 4-of-10 from the floor, grabbed three rebounds, and finished with two assists, two steals, and two blocks.
In Friday evening's blowout victory against the University of Maine at Presque Isle, Dow finished with 11 points, three rebounds, and four steals while shooting an efficient 5-of-7 from the floor in just 13 minutes of action.
On Saturday, Dow willed the Beavers to their first victory over Husson University since 2007. She finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. The 12 rebounds marked a season high for Dow, and she also recorded her second double-double in 10 appearances. Of the 12 boards, five came on the offensive end, helping lead to 12 second-chance points. In addition to notching four steals, Dow served as the primary defender on the conference's leading scorer, Saige Evans. Dow held Evans to just 5-of-17 shooting from the field and forced her into four turnovers.
For Dow, Monday marked the second time she has received both the NAC Player of the Week and NAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. So far this season, Dow is averaging 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per game while leading the Beavers to a 7–3 record, their best start through 10 games since the 2006–07 season.
