Women’s Nordic Kick-Off 2025-26 Season With Two-Day Event at Holderness Eastern Cup

HOLDERNESS, New Hampshire - The University of Maine at Farmington women's nordic skiing team opened up their 2025-26 season on Saturday and Sunday, competing in the NENSA Eastern Cup held in Holderness, New Hampshire. 

The event was stretched over two days with Saturday being a freestyle sprint race and Sunday being a classic 10k race. The event was composed of some of the top talent in New England with racers competing from Dartmouth, Middlebury, the University of New Hampshire, the University of Vermont, as well as numerous highly competitive club programs, amongst others.

On Saturday, sophomore Kelsey McCrum (Greenbush, Maine) was the lone Beavers to compete. The event commenced with 130 competitors vying for a spot in the top-30 for a chance to advance into the quarterfinals. There were five quarterfinal rounds, two semifinal rounds, and then a final round. In the qualifying heat, McCrum posted a time of 3:27.76 to place 123rd. 

On Sunday, McCrum was joined by USCSA All-American Ayla Bodach-Turner (East Montpelier, Vt.). There were 89 racers who competed on Sunday. McCrum finished the 10k event with a time of 47:00.0 to place 88th overall. Bodach-Turner did not finish.

The Beavers will be back in action on January 10th in their USCSA opener in Jackson, New Hampshire.
