LAKE PLACID, New York - University of Maine at Farmington senior standout Ayla Bodach-Turner (East Montpelier, Vt.) raced to a seventh-place finish to help push the women's nordic team to a fourth-place finish on Friday in the 15K Freestyle USCSA National Championship.
In an extremely competitive field, Bodach-Turner was able to hold her own en route to her seventh-place finish. She finished with a total time of 46:26.8 in the event.
Junior Cora Treiss (Berlin, N.H.) was the second Beaver to cross the finish line, placing 20th overall in the 62-racer event. Treiss finished with a total time of 51:02.7.
With just three skiers contributing to the team's finish, senior Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) was the third Beaver to finish. Caroselli placed 47th after posting a time of 59:54.0.
First-year Abbie Dumont (Windham, Maine) also competed on Friday but did not factor into the team's overall score. Dumont finished 59th overall with a time of 1:13:47.7.
Greta Bochenek of Colorado Mesa University earned the gold medal, pacing the field with an impressive time of 44:01.7, more than 18 seconds faster than the next closest competitor. St. Olaf College earned the top team spot, with its top three finishers all placing inside the top five.
