PAUL SMITHS, New York - On February 1st and 2nd, the University of Maine at Farmington women's nordic team competed in the two day Bobcat Invitational hosted by Paul Smith's College.
On Saturday, February 1st, the duo of Ayla Bodach-Turner (East Montpelier, Vermont) and Cora Treiss (Berlin, N.H.) earned first place overall in the 2x5K women's relay, destroying the rest of the competition by over three minutes. Bodach-Turner raced the first leg of the relay, finishing with a time of 16:25.9. In the second leg, Treiss raced to a time of 17:49.8. Combined the two finished with a time of 34:15.6.
First-year Kelsey McCrum (Greenbush, Maine) also competed in the 2x5K relay, competing by herself. McCrum finished her 5K in 26:21.6. Competing by herself, McCrum's second leg was recorded as a ghost time, giving her a total time of 50:25.4 to place 9th overall in the event.
The next day, the Beavers were led on the course by Bodach-Turner who took third place overall, finishing the 15K freestyle with a time of 57:05.2, less than a second and half out of second place.
Treiss had a strong day on the course as well, finishing 26th overall. Treiss finished with a time of 1:05.47 in a loaded 61 person field.
McCrum finished 55th overall in the event, posting a time of 1:29:22.9.
