CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's alpine team is currently in seventh place in the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships after Saturday's Giant Slalom event.
Just over seven seconds separated the top-seven teams, highlighting how small the margin for error is in the highly competitive field.
Beavers Skiers:
With only five skiers competing, the Beavers sent Jacob Roy (Frenchville, Maine), Sam Roy (Frenchville, Maine), Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine), Colgan O'Keefe (Westchester, N.Y.), and Lance Dolan (Coplin Plantation, Maine) to Sugarloaf, with the chance to qualify for the USCSA National Championship on the line.
On Saturday, the Beavers were led by Jacob Roy, who placed 17th overall in the event. Roy posted a time of 1:26.02 across his two runs, with times of 42.41 seconds and 43.61 seconds, respectively.
O'Keefe finished less than a tenth of a second behind Roy, posting a time of 1:26.11, placing 19th overall. O'Keefe's two run times were 43.21 seconds and 42.90 seconds, respectively.
Lindelof was the third quickest Beaver, finishing his two runs with a total time of 1:26.78 to earn 27th place. Lindelof's first run was clocked at 43.11 seconds, while his second run came in at 43.67 seconds.
With only three Beavers contributing to the team's time, Jacob Roy, O'Keefe, and Lindelof combined for a total time of 4:18.69 in their seventh-place effort.
Sam Roy placed 29th overall with a time of 1:27.52 after run times of 43.96 seconds and 43.56 seconds. Dolan finished 32nd overall with run times of 44.08 seconds and 43.82 seconds, for a total time of 1:27.90.
