Men’s Alpine Race to 9th Place Finish in Slalom

BEND, Oregon - The University of Maine at Farmington men's alpine raced to a 9th place finish in Thursday afternoon Slalom National Championship at Mt. Bachelor.

The event was originally scheduled to take place on Friday, but due to incoming weather question marks, the USCSA decided to move the event up a day to guarantee that all athletes would be able to complete two runs.

The Beavers were led on the course by senior Colgan O'Keefe (Westchester, N.Y.) who placed 25th overall finishing with a two-run time of 1:30.72. O'Keefe finished his first run in 44.53 seconds and his second run with a time of 46.19 seconds.

Junior Sam Roy (Frenchville, Maine) finished just six hundredths of a second behind O'Keefe, earning 26th place. Roy finished his first run with a time of 44.54 seconds before posting a time of 46.24 in his second run.

Junior Lance Dolan (Coplin Plantation, Maine) finished a pair of solid runs en route to a total time of 1:32.85. Dolan finished his first run in 46.70 seconds before dropping to 46.15 seconds in his second run.

The trip of O'Keefe, Roy, and Dolan combined to finish with a time of 4:34.35, less than three tenths of a second out of sixth place.

Junior Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine) finished his first run in 46.52 seconds and sat in 51st place before being disqualified in his second run.

Senior Jacob Roy (Frenchville, Maine) registered a DNF in his first run and did not place for the Beavers.

The Beavers will wrap up their week at the USCSA National Championships on Saturday, March 15th for the Dual Slalom Championship.
