Men’s Track and Field Takes 6th at Lynn Ruddy Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's track and field team scored 59 points, securing a 6th place finish at the Lynn Ruddy Invitational hosted by Bowdoin College. The two-day event began with the heptathlon on Friday evening.

Top Beaver Performances:

First-year Owen Booker (Lisbon, Maine) kicked off the competition strong, setting a personal best in the heptathlon. Booker achieved personal bests in five of the seven events, totaling 4,221 points, just five points shy of the New England Standard. He placed third overall, earning six points for the team.

First-year Logan Burns (Islesboro, Maine) contributed a pair of points with a 7th place finish in the 200 meters, clocking in at 24.79 seconds. Burns also placed fourth in the long jump with a best attempt of 6.21 meters and added another fourth place finish in the triple jump, with a best jump of 11.89 meters.

Sophomore Joe Burgess (New Gloucester, Maine) and senior Seamus Reeve (Kittery, Maine) finished 7th and 8th in the 600 meters, separated by less than two-tenths of a second. Burgess posted a time of 1:38.14 to take 7th, while Reeve followed closely with a time of 1:38.29 for 8th. Burgess also added a 6th place finish in the 1,000 meters, completing the race in 3:02.94.

Sophomore Ethan Linscott (Lakeville, Maine) earned four points with a 5th place finish in the 800 meters, posting a time of 2:08.58.

In the mile, Jimmy Reel (Nashua, N.H.) placed 2nd overall, scoring eight points with a personal record of 4:39.24, a two-second improvement. Alex Gagnon (Goffstown, N.H.) and James Riley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) added nine more points, finishing 4th and 5th, respectively. Gagnon crossed the line in 4:49.46, setting a personal best by nine seconds, while Riley was close behind in 4:49.49.

Sophomore Andrew LaFlamme (Nashua, N.H.) secured eight points in the 5,000 meters, finishing 2nd with a time of 16:13.08.

Sophomore Alex Crews (Winslow, Maine) earned six points with a 3rd place finish in the shot put, recording a best throw of 13.37 meters. He also finished 10th in the weight throw with a throw of 11.13 meters.

Farmington will be back in action at the Bates Tune-Up next Saturday.
