Chadbourne and Griffin Receive NAC All-Conference Honors

Written by: Aaron Goschke '25

WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced its postseason awards this afternoon, recognizing standout players from the University of Maine at Farmington. Senior guard Simon Chadbourne (Portland, Maine) was named to the NAC All-Conference Second Team, while senior center Dylan Griffin (Saco, Maine) earned NAC All-Conference Third Team honors.

Chadbourne delivered an outstanding senior season, establishing himself as one of the top players in the NAC and across Division III basketball. His remarkable accuracy from three-point range set him apart, as he led all of Division III with 100 made three-pointers—a new UMF single-season record. He shot 44.2% from beyond the arc, the highest mark in the NAC and 13th-best in the nation.

Chadbourne consistently showcased his scoring ability, averaging 15.5 points per game—seventh in the conference—while also contributing 3.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. His season was highlighted by a career-high 35-point performance against Colby College on November 17 and a milestone game on January 12, when he surpassed 1,000 career points in a dominant win over VTSU Lyndon. He was named NAC Player of the Week twice and earned Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) Player of the Week honors once. His three NAC weekly awards were the most of any player in the conference this season. Chadbourne's leadership played a key role in securing the third seed for the Beavers in the NAC East.

Griffin, a 6'7" senior center, showcased his versatility and leadership throughout the season, excelling in multiple aspects of the game. He posted career highs of 12.8 points and 3.8 assists per game, along with 6.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per contest.

He had several standout performances, including a dominant double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds in a win over Lesley on January 19. Griffin also delivered a career-best 26-point performance, hitting the game-winning shot in a double-overtime playoff thriller against the University of Maine at Presque Isle on February 21. Earlier in the season, he scored 23 points in a road matchup against VTSU Johnson. His playmaking ability as a center was on full display on January 7, when he recorded a career-high 12 assists in an 89-71 win over SUNY Cobleskill. Griffin tallied five or more assists in nine games this season, demonstrating his unique ability to facilitate the offense from the post. His well-rounded skill set and strong defensive presence were crucial to the Beavers' success, earning him a well-deserved spot on the NAC All-Conference Third Team.

Together, Chadbourne and Griffin have left a lasting impact on the University of Maine at Farmington basketball program. Their outstanding achievements not only defined their collegiate careers but also contributed significantly to the team's success, cementing their legacy as they conclude their time with the Beavers.

Additionally, junior guard Patrick McKenney was named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship Team. McKenney appeared in 18 games, making three starts in his second season with the Beavers.
