Women’s Alpine and Women’s Nordic Combine for 3rd Place Finish in President’s Award

BEND, Oregon - The University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine and women's nordic programs combined for a third place finish in the race for the USCSA women's President's Award this week at the USCSA National Championships.

The President's Award is awarded to the institution with the highest combined finish across both alpine slalom and giant slalom events as well as the nordic classic and team sprint events. This year, due to weather conditions, the nordic team sprint event was cancelled, leaving the President's Cup to be awarded to the institutions with the highest combined finish in slalom, giant slalom, and classic events.

In giant slalom, Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) earned six points toward the President's Award with her 30th overall finish. Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) placed 50th overall in the event, earning 14 points. First-year Rosie St. Cyr (Pownal, Maine) took 60th place, contributing 16 points towards their President's Award placement.

Robb, Caroselli, and St. Cyr each had fantastic finishes in the slalom event, earning six, seven, and eight points. Robb finished 33rd, Caroselli was 37th, and St. Cyr was 38th.

On the nordic side, the Beavers were paced by junior standout Ayla Bodach-Turner (East Montpelier, Vermont) who earned 12th place in the 15K classic, scoring 11 points toward the President's Cup. Cora Treiss (Berlin, N.H.) scored 13 points in her 26th place finish. First-year Kelsey McCrum (Greenbush, Maine) tallied 22 points by placing 53rd overall in the event.

In total, Farmington amassed 103 President's Award points, placing only behind Clarkson University (86 points) and first-lace St. Olaf College (62 Points).
