Full 2025 USCSA National Championship Preview

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington will have a total of seven teams competing in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championship in Bend, Oregon next week. The men's alpine, women's alpine, women's nordic, men's freeski, men's snowboard, women's freeski, and women's snowboard teams all qualified for the National Championships, which are slated to begin on Tuesday, March 11th. Opening ceremonies for the event will take place on Monday evening.

Men's Alpine

The men's alpine team capped off another successful regular season in 2025. They had a quality showing at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, finishing 6th overall out of the 18 competing teams. After finishing seventh overall in the giant slalom on Saturday, the Beavers earned sixth place in the slalom on Sunday and secured their spot at the National Championships in Bend, Oregon. The five skiers that will be competing this season at the USCSA National Championships, are the same five who led the Beavers to a fifth place finish at the National Championships a year ago.

The Beavers were led by experienced senior Jacob Roy (Frenchville, Maine) during the Regional Championship who finished 17th on Saturday and 10th on Sunday. Roy made a big turnaround this season, after an inconsistent start that included multiple with DNFs. Roy finished on a high note by having one of the best performances in program history and headed to Oregon with a ton of momentum. Last season at the National Championship in Lake Placid, New York, Roy registered a pair of DNFs in both the giant and slalom events and will look to improve this season.

Senior Colgan O'Keefe (Westchester, N.Y.) had a great weekend at the Regional Championships, coming through when the Beavers needed him most. O'Keefe scored on both days, placing 19th overall in giant slalom and 27th in slalom. During the season, O'Keefe registered seven top-ten finishes between giant slalom and slalom. For his efforts during the regular season, O'Keefe finished as the number six overall skier in the Reynolds Division, earning Second Team All-Division honors. Last season at the Nationals, O'Keefe finished 26th overall with a 29th place finish in slalom and a 44th place finish in giant slalom.

Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine) has been a mainstay at the top of the order for the Beavers this season. At Regionals, Lindelof had a strong showing on both days. On day one in giant slalom, Lindelof finished 27th with a time of 1:26.78. On day two, Lindelof secured a 21st place finish with a notable time of 32.86 seconds in his lone run of the one-run event. During the Reynolds Division portion of the season, Lindelof finished as the number three overall skier to earn First Team All-Reynolds Division honors. At last season's National Championships, Lindelof placed 13th overall with an eighth place finish in giant slalom, and a 33rd overall finish in slalom.

Lance Dolan (Coplin Plantation, Maine) put together a successful and consistent season for the Beavers during the regular season, and continued as such in the 2025 USCSA Eastern Regional Championship races. In the giant slalom on Saturday, Dolan placed 32nd with a total time of 1:27.90, a respectable finish amidst strong competition. The following day in the slalom, he achieved 31st place with a commendable run time of 34.10 seconds in the shortened, one-run event. The 2025 Reynolds Division 2nd Team All-Division selection finished top-ten in every single race across both distinctions leading up to regionals. Dolan finished as a First Team All-Division recipient, placing fourth overall for the entire season. Last season at Nationals, Dolan placed 35th in slalom and 53rd in giant slalom on his way to a 28th overall finish.

Junior Sam Roy (Frenchville, Maine) concluded the 2025 USCSA Eastern races with a noteworthy performance. Roy faced challenges that resulted in disqualification in the Slalom. His best results in the Eastern races included a 29th place finish in the Giant Slalom with a combined time of 1:27.52, illustrating his resilience. Roy finished the regular season as the top overall skier in the USCSA Reynolds Division and will look to once again make a name for himself at the USCSA National Championship this season. A season ago, Roy was named a USCSA Combined All-American and Giant Slalom All-American. Overall, Roy finished 10th at Lake Placid with 14th place finish in giant slalom and a 19th place finish in slalom. Roy finished the season as the top skier in the Reynolds Division, earning First Team All-Division honors.

Women's Alpine

Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) put up yet another great season for the Beavers, achieving second overall in the Reynolds Division, amassing 596 points. The 2025 season marks the second consecutive year that Robb placed in the top-two of the Reynolds Division, finishing as the top overall skier as a first-year. Throughout the season, Robb competed in eight out of nine races, securing podium finishes in seven, which included three victories. In the USCSA Eastern Regionals on February 15th, she recorded a time of 1:31.38 in the giant slalom, finishing 13th overall. The next day, Robb delivered the best individual finish in her program's history, finishing second in the slalom event with a time of 34.67, a mere 0.08 seconds behind the leader. For the full weekend, Robb placed fifth out of the 84 skiers. Her consistent excellence has been pivotal in leading the Beavers throughout the season. Robb placed 27th overall at last season's National Championship with a 24th place finish in giant slalom and a 38th place finish in slalom.

Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) was named to the All-Division First Team for the third consecutive season, finishing as the third overall skier for the second year in a row. Over the season, Caroselli accumulated 590 points, securing the season-long bronze medal. Throughout her nine races, she consistently performed well, finishing no lower than fourth in any race and earning podium spots in seven, with one first-place, four second-place, and two third-place finishes. In the USCSA Eastern Regional slalom event, she completed her run in 36.62 seconds, contributing to the team's strong second-place finish for the weekend. Caroselli finished 44th overall in slalom and registered a DNF in the giant slalom at last season's National Championship.

Rosie St. Cyr (Pownal, Maine) made a significant impact in her first year, earning First Team All-Division honors in the Reynolds Division. Throughout the season, she consistently placed in the top-ten in seven of nine events. St. Cyr's performance peaked with a silver medal in slalom at Sugarloaf and a first-place finish at Pats Peak. Her strong finishes contributed to the team's success, earning her a commendable fifth overall ranking in the conference with 378 points. St. Cyr will get her first Nationals experience on Tuesday when events begin at Mount Bachelor.

Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) was recognized with Second Team All-Division honors for the second year in a row, finishing ninth overall in the Reynolds Division. Mahmood competed in all nine events, consistently placing in the top-ten, with her best performance at Pleasant Mountain in giant slalom. Accumulating 281 points throughout the season, Mahmood has shown remarkable consistency. Mahmood was a key force a season ago as well for the Beavers, helping them garner an 11th place finish at last season's National Championship. Mahmood placed 46th overall at last year's National Championships, with a 46th place finish in giant slalom and 76th place overall in slalom.

Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) played a vital role all season for the Beavers. Smith finished in all but one event this season, earning a pair of top-ten finishes including an eighth-place finish in slalom on February 9 at Pats Peak. Smith brings vital experience to the team, having competed in the USCSA National Championships each of the past two seasons. Last season, Smith placed 83rd overall with a 73rd place finish in slalom but a DNF in giant slalom.

Women's Nordic

Junior Ayla Bodach-Turner (East Montpelier, Vermont), has been a force once again this season for the Beavers with top finishes in key races such as the White Mountain Classic 13k and the USCSA 2x5k Relay. Bodach-Turner placed first overall in the 7.5k Skate event at the USCSA Regionals and her international experience at the World University Games in Italy have positioned her strongly for the upcoming USCSA National Championships in Bend, Oregon. A season ago, Bodach-Turner finished as a Combined All-American, a 7.5K Freestyle All-American, a Classic Sprint All-American, as well as a 15K Mass Start All-American.

Kelsey McCrum (Greenbush, Maine) and Cora Treiss (Berlin, N.H.) also delivered standout performances this ski season. McCrum achieved strong results, including in the 15k Freestyle at Paul Smith's where she finished with a time of 80:37.56. McCrum also registered a ninth place finish in the 2x5K relay, finishing her leg with a time of 26:21.6. Treiss has been a consistent presence all season for the Beavers, playing a key role in numerous team finishes. One of Treiss' best performances came in a first-place finish in the 2x5K Relay where she raced one of the two legs alongside Bodach-Turner. Combined, Treiss and Bodach-Turner finished with a time of 34:15.6. Treiss also finished inside the top-ten in the 7.5K Skate at the USCSA Regionals, registering a time of 23:16.24. Treiss performed well last season at the National Championships, placing 37th in the 7.5K Freestyle, 36th in the Classic Sprints, and 40th in the 15K Mass Start. McCrum will be getting her first taste of the National Championship competition.

Men's Freeski/Snowboard

The men's freeski and snowboard teams will be headed to the USCSA National Championships for the third consecutive season. A season ago, the freeski team placed second overall for the event with a first place finish in the rail jam and the slopestyle. The snowboard team earned a fifth place finish overall, placing third in rail jam and second in slopestyle. Caelan Billings (Sullivan, Maine) was the lone Beaver who competed in boardercross, helping the team to a 13th place finish in the event.

The Beavers are sending five skiers to compete in the rail jam and slopestyle Events: Senior Zach Chaisson (Scarborough, Maine) looks to defend his gold medal in the rail jam from a season ago. Chaisson will be joined by juniors Arden Weaver (Surry, Maine), Dominique Richard (Lewiston, Maine), sophomore Maxwell Hamilton (Brunswick, Maine) and first-year Ben Taylor (Scarborough, Maine) as they look to lead the Beavers to the overall team gold medal.

Last season, Chaisson led the team becoming one of just three UMF snowsports athletes to become a National Champion in program history. In total, the Beavers placed five inside the top-ten in the rail jam with Chaisson in first, Weaver in second, Carson Theriault '24 taking fourth, Hamilton in sixth, and Richard earning ninth.

In slopestyle, Hamilton earned third overall in the slopestyle to lead the Beavers to the first place finish. Weaver placed fifth, Chaisson in sixth, and Richard was 21st.

On the snowboard side of things, the Beavers are also sending five snowboarders in Billings, Jackson Boudreau (Gardiner, Maine), Tucker Boudreau (Gardiner, Maine), Ezra Mathieu (Lewiston, Maine), and first-year Kyle Ingalls (Bowdoin, Maine). Billings had multiple strong performances at the National Championships as season ago, including earning an individual National Championship in boardercross.

In the rail jam National Championship a season ago, Mathieu led the way for Farmington, earning a tenth place finish while Billings placed 13th overall in the event. Mathieu also placed ninth overall in the slopestyle event while Billings finished 13th. The Beavers will be excited to have five snowboarders competing this season, compared to the three that they had a season ago.

All the skiers and snowboarders will be competing in the rail jam and slopestyle events while Billings will compete in boardercross, slalom and giant slalom next week.

Women's Freeski/Snowboard

The women's freeski and snowboard team will be sending their varsity program to the National Championships next week in Oregon. They will be sending two skiers, and two snowboarders. First-year Natalee McKenzie (Kingfield, Maine) and senior Tegan Andrew (Goffstown, N.H) will be competing in the freeski rail jam and slopestyle events. Sophomore Avery Ver Wey (Bridgton, Maine) and senior Angel Brackett (Lincoln, Maine) will be competing in the snowboard events for the Beavers.

At the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships, McKenzie and Andrew took home the gold and silver medals respectively in the slopestyle event. Ver Wey and Brackett competed in the snowboard slopestyle event and placed on the podium as well, finishing second and third respectively.
