Paradis, Dow, and Allen Garner MCBSA All-State Second Team Honors After Stellar 2025 Seasons

Written By: Aaron Goschke '25

FARMINGTON, Maine – The Maine College Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) has announced its annual postseason awards, honoring standout student-athletes for their impressive achievements on the diamond during the 2025 season. Among those recognized are three players from the University of Maine at Farmington softball program: senior Olivia Paradis, sophomore Jessica Dow, and senior Christa Allen.

Olivia Paradis (Sr. – Saco, ME) 2nd Team Infielder

Concluding a memorable five-year collegiate journey with the Beavers, Paradis earned MCBSA All-State Second Team honors as an infielder. This accolade follows her recognition as a First Team NAC East Division All-Conference selection at second base, highlighting her impact both offensively and defensively. Appearing in 29 games with 27 starts, Paradis was one of UMF's most consistent hitters, posting an impressive .362 batting average (25-for-69). Known for her elite contact skills, she remarkably struck out just four times all season while driving in 15 runs. Paradis also boasted a strong .405 on-base percentage, crossed home plate ten times, and had two stolen bases.

On defense, Paradis provided steady and reliable play, finishing the year with a .953 fielding percentage, helping to anchor the Beavers' infield. Her leadership and ability to come through in critical moments were instrumental, exemplified by her exceptional 3-for-3 performance with two RBIs in a pivotal playoff-clinching victory against Lesley.

Jessica Dow (So., Outfielder – Saco, ME) 2nd Team Outfielder

Dow continued her standout collegiate career, earning All-State Second Team honors for the second consecutive season following a brilliant sophomore campaign. Dow established herself as one of the North Atlantic Conference's most feared hitters, ranking eighth overall in the NAC with a stellar .388 batting average. She collected 33 hits, drove in 19 runs, and scored 25 times over her 29 appearances, consistently igniting the Beavers' offense from the middle of the order.

Dow's offensive versatility was showcased through her team-leading .413 on-base percentage and notable speed, evidenced by seven stolen bases. Her impressive athleticism was equally evident in her defensive performance, as she delivered flawless defense in the outfield throughout NAC competition, becoming one of the team's most reliable defenders. Arguably the highlight of Dow's outstanding year was her thrilling inside-the-park home run against Lesley, a pivotal play that secured Farmington's playoff position and energized the Beavers' postseason push.

Christa Allen (Sr. – Harrison, ME) 2nd Team Designated Player

Senior Christa Allen rounded out the Beavers' trio of honorees, being recognized as a designated player on the MCBSA All-State Second Team following another productive and impactful season at the plate. Allen was one of UMF's offensive leaders, batting .370 and accumulating a team-best 47 total bases on 34 hits, while also driving in 20 runs. Allen's consistency was evident throughout the year, as she compiled an impressive .915 OPS, reinforcing her reputation as a dangerous hitter.

Her standout performance of the season came in a dominating doubleheader sweep over UMPI, where Allen went an impressive 5-for-8 at the plate. She drove in seven runs, including a home run and a double, and scored three times. Beyond her significant contributions as a designated player, Allen also served a crucial role defensively, performing consistently behind the plate and concluding her senior season with a solid .929 fielding percentage.

Allen finishes her four-year career as one of the most accomplished hitters to wear a UMF uniform, tallying 101 career hits, seven home runs, 72 RBIs, and 19 doubles.
