LaFlamme Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

FARMINGTON, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington men's track and field standout Andrew LaFlamme (Nashua, N.H.) has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Cross Country and Track & Field Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.

CSC Academic All-District is a prestigious honor for which cross country and track & field athletes must have finished inside the top 50 of their Regional Cross Country Championship or be ranked inside the regional top 50 of a particular event during either the indoor or outdoor track and field season, while also having accumulated a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Athletes must be of sophomore status, both academically and athletically, in order to be considered for the recognition.

A sophomore, LaFlamme ranked inside the top 50 in the East Region in a pair of outdoor events this year, ranking 34th overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 39th overall in the 10,000 meters. LaFlamme's best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase came during the Beavers' opening meet, racing to a time of 10:25.26 at the SNHU Spring Invitational.

LaFlamme was the only male athlete to compete at the Silfen Invitational this year and made the most of his opportunity, finishing with a time of 33:36.85, qualifying for the Regional Championship event in the process.

LaFlamme played a big role in helping Farmington repeat as North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Champions in cross country this past fall, as well as doing his part in leading the Beavers to their first NAC Track & Field Championship this past April.

LaFlamme is a Creative Writing major and will look to continue to make a strong impact on both the cross country and track & field teams over the next two seasons.
