WATERVILLE, Maine – For the fourth time in her career—and the first time in 2025—University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer goalkeeper
Paige Gonya (Sabattus, Maine) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Defensive Player of the Week.
The senior delivered a standout performance on Saturday at Wellesley. Facing heavy pressure throughout, Gonya was a bright spot for the Beavers, tying her career high with 15 saves in a 4-0 setback against the Blue's high-powered attack.
Gonya has been strong to open the 2025 season. Through four games, she has recorded 24 saves while posting career-best marks in goals-against average (2.15) and save percentage (.774). She owns a 2-2 record and has allowed just seven goals this fall.
This week's honor marks Gonya's first NAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition since October 21, 2024.
Gonya and the Beavers will look to bounce back on Tuesday afternoon when they host VTSU Lyndon in their 2025 NAC opener.
