Beavers Score Early and Often in Victory Over Lyndon

FARMINGTON, Maine – First-year midfielder Annimer Ibrahim (Lewiston, Maine) scored just five minutes into the game, and the University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team never looked back, cruising to a 10-0 victory over visiting VTSU Lyndon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Tuesday afternoon at Leib Field.

The Records:

With the win, the Beavers improved to 2-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in NAC action, bouncing back after a setback on Saturday. Lyndon remained winless, dropping to 0-5-0.

How It Happened:

Ibrahim opened the scoring early, taking a pass from fellow first-year Owen Spera (Gorham, Maine) and firing it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Just over seven minutes later, sophomore JJ Greenlaw (Farmington, Maine) doubled the advantage with a highlight-reel strike, blasting a left-footed shot from 30 yards out into the top-left corner, just under the crossbar.

The Beavers quickly added two more goals within 74 seconds. First-year Vishal Mellor (Union, Maine) bent a free kick around the Hornets' wall and into the left side-netting, before senior Caelan Billings converted a short pass from Ibrahim for his first goal of the season, making it 4-0 after just 19 minutes.

Farmington continued to roll in the 26th minute when first-year Garrett Gendreau (Waterville, Maine) headed home a long service from Arden Weaver (Surry, Maine) into the top-right corner. Four minutes later, sophomore Monte Weaver (Surry, Maine) netted his first career goal on a well-executed corner kick sequence, with Reed Pambianco (Blue Hill, Maine) serving the ball and Jackson Landry (Gorham, Maine) flicking it on for the assist.

Leading 6-0 at halftime, the Beavers struck again in the second half behind first-year Jordan Castonguay (Sabattus, Maine), who scored his first two collegiate goals 19 minutes apart to extend the lead to eight.

Owen Dakin (Windham, Maine) and Landry rounded out the scoring in the final 16 minutes, bringing Farmington's total to 10 goals on the day.
