How It Happened
UMaine-Farmington jumped out to an early lead just 2:02 into the game on Dunn's first goal. Dunn was in the right place at the right time, collecting the rebound from a blocked shot by
Natalie Tracy (Oakland, Maine) and firing it into the back of the net for a 1-0 advantage.
The Beavers doubled their lead in the 20th minute when sophomore
Jenna Lee (Farmingdale, Maine) tallied her first goal of the season. After receiving a pass from
Grace Dwyer (Manchester, Maine), Lee beat a pair of defenders before lofting a 30-yard shot into the right side netting to make it 2-0.
Six minutes later, Tracy added her eighth goal of the season when she capitalized on a bobble by the Owls' goalkeeper, sliding a short-range shot home for a 3-0 lead.
Meak extended the margin to 4-0 in the 41st minute. She settled the ball at midfield, carried it through the UMPI defense, and slipped a shot past Owl goalkeeper Natalie Miranda just before halftime.
After outshooting the Owls 15-0 in the first half, the Beavers continued to press offensively. Five minutes into the second half, Dwyer made it 5-0. She took a corner kick that was cleared back toward her, then one-timed a shot from just outside the left corner of the penalty area over the head of second-half goalkeeper Michaela Carney.
Dunn converted a penalty kick in the 66th minute for her second goal of the day, pushing the score to 6-0.
Meak capped the scoring in the 75th minute, heading home a long free kick from Dwyer to complete the 7-0 victory.
