??WATERVILLE, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer first-year Vishal Mellor (Union, Maine) enjoyed the best week of his young career, scoring twice to help lead the Beavers to a 2-0 record. On Monday afternoon, he was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week.

On Tuesday against VTSU Lyndon, Mellor made his first collegiate start and wasted no time making an impact. In the 18th minute, he lined up a free kick from about 25 yards out and struck the ball with his left foot. His shot bent around the Hornets' four-man wall and tucked into the lower-left corner of the net to give Farmington a 3-0 lead. The Beavers went on to win 10-0, with Mellor's strike marking the first goal of his collegiate career.

On Saturday, Mellor once again played a key role, this time coming off the bench in Farmington's 3-0 NAC victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle. In the 31st minute, he pounced on a loose ball in the box after it deflected off the UMPI goalkeeper and buried it for a 1-0 lead. The tally stood as the game-winner.

The award is Mellor's first career honor. For the Beavers, it marks the third NAC Rookie of the Week recognition this season, as fellow first-year Owen Spera (Gorham, Maine) earned the award in each of the first two weeks.
