WATERVILLE, Maine – For the second time this season, the University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team swept the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) weekly awards.
Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine) was named Runner of the Week, while
Kaylee Johnston (Bangor, Maine) earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Martinez Nocito delivered a record-setting performance at the Maine
State Championship on Saturday. She completed the 6k in 23:13.17, breaking the program record previously held by Katie LeBlanc '18 (23:19.0, set in October 2017). Martinez Nocito placed 22nd overall in the highly competitive field and led the Beavers to a seventh-place team finish.
Johnston, a first-year, also turned in a strong showing at the championship. She finished the 6k in 25:55.00, averaging a 6:57 mile pace to place 67th overall in a field of 119 runners. The award marks the first conference honor of her collegiate career.
