Beavers Pick Up 2nd Win of the Season in Weather-Shortened Fashion

PAXTON, Mass. - The University of Maine at Farmington earned their second win of the season on Saturday afternoon on the road against Anna Maria College by a score of 1-0. After 17 minutes of play, the game was called due to weather. Prior to the game, it was agreed upon that regardless of how many minutes were played, the result was the result and it was to be final.

How it Happened:

The opening quarter of play was fairly evenly played with a majority of the play taking place in the middle of the field. Anna Maria was able to create four penalty corner opportunities, but was unable to convert as junior goalkeeper Ella Grant (Sturbridge, Mass.) stood tall in goal, making a pair of saves to keep the Amcats off the scoreboard.

Farmington didn't create a ton of chances but the one that they did, they made count. Junior forward Gabby Vincentsen (Bristol, Maine) received a pass from Zoey Pennell (Saco, Maine) and fired a shot into the back of the cage in the final seconds of the opening quarter to stake the Beavers to a 1-0 lead after one.

The Beavers created one penalty corner in the first minute and a half of the second quarter before the game was delayed and eventually called due to lightning.

UP NEXT

Farmington will look to earn their second consecutive win next weekend when they head to Chicopee, Massachusetts to take on Elms College in a non-conference battle. Next Saturday's game is set to begin at 11:00 AM.
