CANNON, New Hampshire — Sophomore Rosie St. Cyr (Pownal, Maine) and senior Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) placed third and fourth, respectively, on Friday in the University of Maine at Farmington's season-opening giant slalom at Cannon Mountain.
The race featured Saint Joseph's College, the University of Maine, Bowdoin College, and an individual competitor from Colby College. Saint Joseph's claimed the top team finish, as its top three skiers combined for a time of 4:37.98, earning 10 place points. Competing with just two skiers, the Beavers were forced to take a ghost time and finished second with a combined time of 4:59.46. The University of Maine placed third at 4:59.75, while Bowdoin finished fourth with a time of 5:01.18.
Individually, Megan Cook of Saint Joseph's College earned first place, Gabrielle Henry of Colby finished second, and St. Cyr rounded out the podium in third.
Beaver Skiers
St. Cyr delivered two strong and consistent runs on her way to a third-place finish. She posted the second-fastest first run of the day at 44.70 seconds, then followed with a 45.35-second second run to record a combined time of 1:30.05.
Caroselli also opened the season with a strong performance, finishing fourth overall. She posted a combined time of 1:33.31, opening with a 46.53-second first run and following with a 46.78-second second run after the course was reset.
