NEWRY, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington freeski and snowboard team had five athletes compete in Saturday's USASA slopestyle event held at Sunday River. Farmington was represented by two freeskiers and three snowboarders in the competition.
On the snowboarding side, a trio of seniors topped the podium, as Ezra Mathieu (Lewiston, Maine), Jackson Boudreau (Gardiner, Maine), and Tucker Boudreau (Gardiner, Maine) all earned medals in the 19–29 age division. Originally scheduled as a two-run event, athletes were limited to a single scored run due to conditions.
Mathieu took home gold with a strong run that earned a score of 60.33. Jackson Boudreau captured silver with a score of 32.00, while Tucker Boudreau rounded out the podium with bronze after posting a 15.67.
On the freeski side, Arden Weaver (Surry, Maine) and Dominique Richard (Lewiston, Maine) competed in the 19–29 age division. Both athletes put together strong runs, but it was Weaver who narrowly claimed the victory, earning the gold medal with a score of 59.33. Richard posted an impressive 50.33 to take silver.
