BRIDGTON, Maine - Senior Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) and sophomore Rosie St. Cyr each placed inside the top five to help lead the Beavers to a third-place team finish on Saturday in a Reynolds Division giant slalom event at Pleasant Mountain.
Saint Joseph's College earned the top spot as a team, collecting six place points as its three scoring skiers combined for a total time of 4:13.21. Individually, Gabrielle Henry of Colby College was nearly three seconds faster than any other skier, posting a time of 1:20.51 to earn the gold medal.
Beaver Skiers:
Caroselli placed just one spot shy of a podium appearance, earning fourth place after her two runs combined for a total time of 1:24.72. Caroselli was ultra-consistent in both of her runs, recording the fourth-fastest time in each. She finished her first run in 42.14 seconds and her second in 42.58 seconds.
St. Cyr finished less than a second behind Caroselli en route to a fifth-place finish. St. Cyr posted a combined time of 1:25.55 over her two runs. She completed her first run in 42.85 seconds and her second in 42.70 seconds to earn her third top-five finish in as many races this season.
With Caroselli and St. Cyr being the only two Beavers to compete, Farmington was forced to take a ghost time. Saturday's ghost time was 1:50.25. The ghost time, combined with the times from Caroselli and St. Cyr, gave the Beavers a cumulative time of 4:40.52 in their third-place finish.
The University of Maine finished less than half a second ahead of Farmington, posting a time of 4:40.18 to earn second place.
