Four Compete at Lost Valley Rail Jam

AUBURN, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington freeski and snowboard team had four athletes compete in the USASA Maine Mountain Series Rail Jam event hosted at Lost Valley on Saturday afternoon. 

Broken up into snowboarding and freeski disciplines based off age group, the Beavers had Ezra Mathieu (Lewiston, Maine) competing in the 19-29 year old snowboarding division, Logan Dube (Phillips, Maine) competed in the 17-18 year old freeski division, and Max Labonte (Livermore, Maine) and Dominique Richard (Lewiston, Maine) compete in the in the 19-29 year old freeski division.

Mathieu was the lone competitor in the 19-29 snowboard division, easily earning the gold medal.

Dube was one of five athletes who were registered to compete in the 17-18 year old freeski division but only three ended up competing in the event. Dube earned second place, taking home the silver medal.

Labonte and Richard battled one another for the top-spot in the 19-29 year old freeski division as the lone two competitors. Labonte bested Richard to earn the gold while Richard settled for silver.

The Beavers return to the slopes next Sunday, January 11th in their first slopestyle event of the season being held at Sugarloaf.
