Men’s Soccer Dominant in 8-0 Victory over UMaine-Augusta

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team earned an emphatic 8-0 shutout victory over the University of Maine at Augusta on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Leib Field. How it Happened:

Farmington came out aggressively, creating several early scoring opportunities. Jack Luciano (Gorham, Maine) nearly opened the scoring in the fifth minute, but his header struck the post.

Luciano broke through in the 15th minute, finding the back of the net off an assist, a long ball over the top of the UMA backline from Monte Weaver (Kennebunk, Maine) to give the Beavers a 1-0 advantage. Less than two minutes later, Luciano struck again, this time finishing a pass from JJ Greenlaw (Farmington, Maine) off a free kick to extend Farmington's lead to 2-0.

The Beavers continued to pressure the Augusta defense throughout the remainder of the opening half, earning eight corner kicks but were unable to extend their advantage and carried its 2-0 advantage into halftime.

Farmington wasted little time adding to its lead in the second half, as Luciano completed his hat trick just 32 seconds after the break with an assist from Fred Coit (Blue Hill, Maine), pushing the Beavers ahead 3-0.

Greenlaw added to the lead in the 54th minute, converting a penalty kick to make it 4-0. Owen Spera (Gorham, Maine) followed with a goal in the 56th minute, extending the advantage to five and all but put the game away.

Farmington's offensive explosion continued however as Reed Pambianco (Blue Hill, Maine) found the back of the net in the 62nd minute off assists from Oscar Davis (Scarborough, Maine) and Garrett Gendreau (Waterville, Maine) to make it 6-0. Kaeson Dana (Perry, Maine) added another goal, the first of his collegiate career in the 67th minute before Jackson Landry (Gorham, Maine) capped off the scoring in the 77th minute with an assist from Jordan Castonguay (Sabattus, Maine).
