LONDONDERRY, Vermont – Over the weekend, the University of Maine at Farmington men's freeski and snowboard teams booked their trip to Lake Placid, New York, to compete in the USCSA National Championships after each team took gold at the Eastern Regional Championship at Magic Mountain.
On the freeski side, the Beavers had seven athletes compete, with each placing inside the top seven and completely dominating the field. Maxwell Hamilton (Brunswick, Maine), Arden Weaver (Surry, Maine), and Clay Gregg (Mapleton, Maine) each took home individual medals, with Hamilton earning gold, Weaver claiming silver, and Gregg grabbing bronze. Logan Dube (Phillips, Maine), Dylan Gagnon (Hudson, N.H.), Max Labonte (Jay, Maine), and Dominique Richard (Lewiston, Maine) placed fourth through seventh, respectively.
On the snowboard side, the Beavers swept the podium, with their three competing athletes finishing first, second, and third, respectively. Tucker Boudreau (Gardiner, Maine), Ezra Mathieu (Lewiston, Maine), and Jackson Boudreau (Gardiner, Maine) earned gold, silver, and bronze.
On Sunday, senior snowboarder Caelan Billings (Sullivan, Maine) competed in both the slalom and giant slalom events, walking away with the gold medal in each.
The USCSA National Championships are set to begin on March 9 and will run through March 14.
