Billings Places 39th in National Title Defense

LAKE PLACID, New York - Two-time USCSA Boardercross National Champion Caelan Billings (Sumner, Maine) was unable to complete the three-peat on Tuesday, finishing 39th overall in the Boardercross National Championship at Whiteface Mountain.

The event began with time trials for the 50 competitors who were vying for a spot inside the top-32 to make it into the bracket portion of the event. Based on the placement in the time trial, athletes were ranked and then a bracket was created and broken up into heats of four with two competitors advancing out of each heat until the final heat and a champion was crowned.

In the time trials, Billings finished with a time of 53.99 seconds and placed 39th overall, less than two seconds out of 32nd place and a chance to qualify for the bracket.
