FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team battled Fisher College through a scoreless opening half, but the Falcons scored three times in the second half to secure a 3-0 victory over the Beavers on Tuesday afternoon at Leib Field.

The Records:

Farmington moved to 0-8-1 overall following the loss. Fisher moved to 4-1-3 on the season with the victory.

How it Happened:

The Beavers created several scoring opportunities during the opening minutes of the first half, earning three corner kicks during the first ten minutes of play but were unable to register a shot in any of the three attempts. 

The Beavers best opportunity to score came from Rita Benoit (Hallowell, Maine) who nearly broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when her shot struck the crossbar. 

The Beaver defense was fantastic during the opening half of play, allowing the Falcons just one shot attempt. The attempt was off target and sophomore Ruthie Gusler (Phillips, Maine) who got the start in net, did not need to make a save as the game stayed scoreless into halftime.

Fisher upped their offensive pressure during the second half and eventually broke the scoreless tie, scoring three times in the 25 minutes of play. 

The Falcons first goal came in the 66th minute when Linnea Ramiel found the back of the net, an unassisted marker, giving the Falcons a 1-0 advantage.

Fisher doubled their lead in the 77th minute when Sandy Auguste tucked a show into the lower left corner off an assist from Emely Fernandez.

The Falcons added an insurance goal in the 89th minute when Auguste scored her second goal of the afternoon, a rocket into the upper right corner off an assist from Stevie Bethel, extending Fisher's advantage to 3-0. 

After holding a 3-1 advantage in shots during the opening 45 minutes of play, the Beavers were outshot 10-2 in the second half.

The Goalkeepers:

Gusler played the opening 45 minutes for the Beavers and did not allow a goal. Peyton Gonya (Sabattus, Maine) took over in the second half, making two saves. Pelton made one save for the Falcons to secure the shutout.
